Rimel Neffati

This young, discreet, French photographer is by far the most artistic and original I have seen in a long time.  I discovered her over a year ago and her work mesmerised me.  These days it is hard to be wowed by something because of its originality, but Rimel has done that, by showing us her own fantastical world.

Not only is her art fascinating and mystical, but Rimel herself is a lovely mysterious person.  One of the aspects I love the most about her photography is that the model is always herself.   Her auto-portraits show that she has a beautiful enigmatic face which is worth photographing, with the most striking lips that even Angelina would envy!

Some of her influences are the circus, fairs, small graveyards and churches, even though she does not consider herself to be particularly religious.  All these places of influence are noticeable in her photos with the clever use of props.  She has managed with her art form to transcend the line between painting and photography.

I wish her all the best in the future and hope that she breaks out into the world.  Personally I would love to have a large copy of one of her photos either in my bedroom for its sensuality or in my living room, because I never get bored of looking at them.

It is hard to believe that she only took up photography 4 years ago and is self taught!
